In my head this post has a Batman-esque logo somehow linking to the original Gutenberg printing press. Pretend this is that picture.

If you haven't heard, the Gutenberg project makes public domain texts available at no cost to---well, the public. Hooray!
Here are a few books I love that are available on Gutenberg.
The Blue Castle, L.M. Montgomery
A lesser known work from the author of the Anne of Green Gables series, the story of Valancy Sterling and her life-changing diagnosis is one I return to every half year or so---something about the seasons changing and the close tie to the natural world.
Old Tales from the North, Asbjornsen and Moe
One of my personal favorites of all fairy tale collections, this book contains the less famous stories of "East of the Sun, West of the Moon" and "The Giant Who Had No Heart." It's an old, rich narrative of fantasy in the far north.
The Count of Monte Cristo, Alexander Dumas
This book----I'm warning you now---is very different from the movie. Alexander Dumas was paid by the line, which is why he's so heavy on dialogue and delicious subplots---and I love him for it! Settle in for a wild ride, through prison, betrayal, intrigue, starvation, and revenge.
Have you ever visited the Gutenberg project? Which titles are your favorite?
